Eatona ("we", "our", or "us"), a product of Teknikforce, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Eatona mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Profile Information: Name, age, gender, height, weight, dietary preferences, and fitness goals that you provide during onboarding.
- Food & Health Data: Meal logs, calorie and macro entries, weight records, and water intake you record within the app.
- Camera & Photos: Images you capture or select from your gallery to analyse food items or menus. These are processed by our AI provider and are not stored on our servers beyond the duration of the request.
- Usage Data: Anonymous information about how you interact with the app (e.g., features used, session duration) to help us improve performance.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide AI-powered nutritional analysis and personalised recommendations.
- To calculate your daily calorie and macro targets based on your profile.
- To display insights, trends, and coaching feedback within the app.
- To send meal reminder notifications if you have enabled them.
- To improve the app through anonymised usage analytics.
3. Data Storage
Your profile, food diary, weight log, and favourites are stored locally on your device using SQLite. This data is not transmitted to our servers unless you are using a feature that explicitly requires it (e.g., AI food analysis). We do not maintain a centralised user database linked to your personal identity.
4. Third-Party Services
Eatona integrates with the following third-party services:
- OpenAI (GPT-4V): Food photos and text are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. Please review OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Open Food Facts: Barcode lookups query the Open Food Facts database. This is a read-only public API and no personal data is transmitted.
5. Permissions
The app requests the following device permissions:
- Camera: To photograph food and menus for AI analysis.
- Photo Library: To select existing photos for analysis.
- Notifications: To send optional daily meal reminders.
- Internet Access: To communicate with AI and barcode lookup services.
All permissions are used solely for the stated purposes within the app.
6. Data Retention
All locally stored data persists until you uninstall the app or clear the app's data from your device settings. We do not retain any personal data on our servers after your request is fulfilled.
7. Children's Privacy
Eatona is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Your Rights
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you retain full control over it at all times. You may delete your data by clearing the app's storage through your device settings or uninstalling the application.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
